Description

Thank you for considering the role of Director of Operations – National Veterinary Services at PDSA as the next exciting step in your career. This is not just a job opportunity; it's a chance to have a profound impact on the lives of people and pets across the UK.

At PDSA, we are here to support the relief of poverty by keeping people and their pets together when owners can’t afford the full cost of their veterinary care. With 43 PDSA Pet Hospitals and associated clinics delivering more than 2.2 million veterinary treatments annually, supported by over 2,000 employees no other charity matches our scale or impact on people and their pets in their time of need. This is a unique opportunity to join a truly special organisation that touches the lives of pets and people across the UK. At PDSA, what we do matters.

As demand for our services continues to grow, we must evolve—strengthening our operational performance, innovating how we deliver care, and ensuring our services remain accessible, sustainable and of the highest clinical quality.

The role

As Director of Operations – National Veterinary Services, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of PDSA’s veterinary services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, and working closely with the Chief Veterinary Advisor, the wider Senior Leadership Team, our Regional Veterinary Managers and hospital teams, you will help shape and lead the delivery of strategic objectives across our nationwide clinical operations. You will have full accountability for performance, quality, efficiency and client experience across a large, complex, multi‑site estate.

Leading significant and diverse teams of experts, through senior leaders, you will inspire a culture of collaboration, compassion and continuous improvement whilst having full responsibility for veterinary delivery across the UK.

This is not solely an operational role—it is a senior leadership position, contributing to organisation wide decisions and helping set the strategic direction of PDSA as a whole as well as the target operating model for our veterinary services.

Who we’re looking for]

We are seeking an experienced, credible and values led leader with the strategic capability to operate at Executive level and the personal impact to lead change at scale. You will bring commercial acumen, emotional intelligence and a transparent, compassionate leadership style, with a proven track record of delivering measurable improvements and change across large, complex multi-site operations, within service environments.

We are not specifically seeking someone with Veterinary operations experience; we are open to people who have worked with other regulated professionals, such as clinicians or other comparable specialists.

Why join PDSA?

In return, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful impact on animal welfare and on the lives of the people who rely on us every day. At PDSA, we believe we achieve more when we work together—and our people are united by a shared purpose to do the right thing for pets and their owners.

If you are inspired by this role and the opportunity to shape the future of veterinary services at PDSA, we would be delighted to hear from you.
