We are seeking a Director of Operations – National Veterinary Services.

You will lead the operational strategy and delivery of veterinary services at PDSA, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s purpose of keeping people and pets together when times are tough.

This role focuses on delivering operational excellence, resource optimisation, and strategic initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and employee engagement.

As part of the wider leadership team, contribute to the delivery of overarching organisational plans.

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in becoming our new Director of Operations – National Veterinary Services and for considering PDSA as the next step in your career.

This is a unique opportunity to join a special organisation that touches the lives of pets and people across the UK. What we do matters. We’re here to keep people and pets together by providing pragmatic veterinary care to pets whose owners can’t afford the full cost of their veterinary treatment. We raise the status of animals by celebrating their contributions to our lives through our prestigious Animal Awards Programme.

With 46 Pet Hospitals and Clinics delivering more than 2.2 million treatments each year, no other charity matches our scale or impact on animal welfare for those most in need. Our reach and expertise mean we support more pets and owners than any other animal charity. Yet, as demand for our services grows, we must continue to adapt, innovate, and ensure our care remains accessible, sustainable, and of the highest quality.

As Director of Operations – National Veterinary Services, you will play a pivotal role in this journey. Working closely with me as COO, alongside our Chief Veterinary Advisor and Senior Leadership Team, you will help shape and deliver strategic objectives that strengthen efficiency, elevate clinical standards and enhance client satisfaction across our nationwide services. Leading large and diverse teams, you will inspire a culture of collaboration, compassion, and continuous improvement, ensuring our services remain future-focused and aligned with our mission. This is not just a veterinary leadership role, but a senior corporate position shaping decisions across the whole organisation.

We are looking for a strategic leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, a transparent and compassionate style, and the ability to drive organisational change at scale. You will be commercially astute and experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams to success. Crucially, you will bring a proven track record of fostering innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement across all levels of an organisation.

In return, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on animal welfare and the lives of the people who rely on us every day. At PDSA, we believe we achieve more when we work better together.

If you are inspired by this role and the opportunity to shape the future of veterinary services at PDSA, I look forward to hearing from you.

I wish you every success with your application.
